Homes for Sale in Greater Austin
Greater Austin Homes for Sale - The Carson Group
Austin, Texas…It seems like everyone knows someone who's moving to Austin. The Capital of Texas has grown steadily during the last ten years…Third-fastest-growing large city in the nation. It’s the 14th most populous city in the U.S. Everyone from young urban professionals, and CEOs to students, artists, gamers and musicians are attracted to our town.
The change in Austin is noticeable everywhere, from the busy downtown area with its new gleaming skyline, to trendy and pricey neighborhoods.
So why is everybody headed here? We’re “The Live Music Capital of the World”, we have over a million bats that live under the Congress Street Bridge, and our unofficial slogan is” Keep Austin Weird”, ‘nuff said? The fact is, rarely does a week go by without the Austin area being listed near the top of a “Best Of” list.
Austin is ranked as the third best city to move to in the U.S. We have some of the cleanest air in the country. We have more restaurants per capita than most cities, but we were still named one of the “top ten emerging restaurant markets” in the nation. Another study named Austin as one of the safest cities of its size, and MSNBC included Austin in the “Top Ten Places to Live.” “Austin: the Most Livable City in the Country”- says Kiplinger.
But besides being “different”, “cool”, “sophisticated” and “laid back” (“kinda” California without the earthquakes…)
Austin Means Business!
CBS News says “Austin leads the nation in Job Growth.” According to Entrepreneur.com Austin is “the nation’s most progressive and proactive entrepreneurial center.” A CNN/Money study labeled Austin as “Recession-Proof” last year. Forbes.com ranked Austin as one of the best job markets in the country. Personal Finance picked Austin as the “No 1 best city to live in for the next 10 years” … the list goes on and on.
The “Silicon Hills” is home to major employers, Dell, AMD, IBM, Freescale, National Instruments, Silicon Labs and thousands of other companies specializing in emerging technologies. Samsung built their largest facility outside of Korea in Austin. Companies continue to relocate their headquarters or expand their facilities here. The University of Texas provides the area with a well educated pool of talent.
The Austin area has avoided the boom and bust in Real Estate too. While Austin’s quality of living is high, the median price for an existing single –family home in 2010 was $182,000. The council for Community and Economic Research ranks Austin one of the best in the cost of living index.
Austin is on the banks of Lady Bird Lake, and is the gateway to the rolling hills of the Texas Hill Country with more than 251 parks, 40 greenbelts, 15 preserves and 270 miles of shoreline on Lake Travis. We live outdoors! Austin is host to great events, like the world renown South by Southwest Music and Film Festival, the Austin City Limits TV Show and Music Fest and, now, the United States F-1 Grand Prix. We're home to a singer named Willie, a cyclist named Lance, a Longhorn steer named Bevo, and an Academy Award actor named Sandra.
We’re waiting for you… come on home to Austin.
